Phil Watson

Monday 17 August, 6.00 pm - White Swan

In this talk we will learn more about John Shakespeare, father of William, born c1531, including his work and his friends and associates.

In particular, the talk is about a specific sequence of events that explain John's apparent 'fall from grace' which has led to a fanciful and inaccurate depiction of Shakespeare's father. What kind of man was John Shakespeare really?

Phil Watson delivers a wide range of historical talks. He also works for the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust.
