Garden Party
In September 2021 members enjoyed the annual Garden Party, kindly hosted by Tony and Janet Bird at their beautiful home in Billesley. A glass of Prosecco in the rose garden was followed by tea in the pavilion. We were joined by friends from the Shakespeare Club, making a total of over 70 people in attendance. Music was provided by two former pupils of King Edward School (KES). Photographs below are by Danny Keaney.
To thank the hosts, the Chairman presented Mr Bird with a first edition of the book William Shakespeare: a biography by Charles Knight (1843) and he presented Mrs Bird with a 12" fruit bowl in geometric repeating scalloped design, hand-made in Stratford in the 1970s by the celebrated master of ceramics, Roy Clarke. The Chairman's wife presented the hosts with a copy of the history of the Shakespeare Club, signed by the authors.
