The past, present and future of an Accessible Stratford

Elizabeth Dixon – Disability Adviser

Monday 21 February, 6.00 pm

Physical disabilities for hearing, sight and mobility impairments affect more than 14 million people in the UK. All organisations are required to make reasonable adjustments to permit access, under the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 and Equality Act 2010. Much has been achieved in Stratford in recent years, but there is still much more to do.

Elizabeth Dixon advises Warwickshire County Council on issues like blue badge parking and installing dropped kerbs. She has also been working with the District and Town Councils by writing accessibility statements for their upcoming events. Recently she received the Mayor's Award for her tireless campaigning for business owners in Stratford to make their premises as accessible as possible for those with a range of disabilities. She maintains the website Accessible Stratford.

The video of the presentation may be viewed on the Stratford Society's YouTube channel.
